Medium-complexity vector tracing is where most professional logo work sits: more than a flat mark, but not a full illustration. Badges, crests, layered wordmarks, vintage-style logos and marks with light shading all land here. The difference between this and a simple trace is the number of separate shapes, the depth of the shading and how much judgement is needed to keep the result readable at small sizes.
What is included at this level
- Artwork with up to roughly six distinct colours or tonal areas
- Layered shading, soft gradients and highlight work
- Outlined lettering with correct joins and spacing
- Badge, crest and emblem construction with rings and banners
- Reconstruction of detail that would not survive at your smallest size
How we handle the judgement calls
Detail is not free. When a badge is going on a business card at 40mm wide, some of the original line work has to be simplified or the mark turns to mud. We make those calls deliberately, keep the important features intact, and flag them so your designer can approve the trade-off rather than discover it in prepress.
Delivery
SVG, EPS, AI, PDF and CDR, with all strokes converted to outlines and shapes grouped in a sensible order so your team can edit layers without a cleanup pass. A low-resolution preview is sent first for larger jobs.
Typical turnaround
Three to five working days. We will quote a fixed price after seeing the file, and we will tell you if your artwork belongs in the simple or complex bracket instead of quietly pricing it as the cheaper one.
Working with us as a supplier
Print shops and studios commonly keep us on a retainer for the mid-complexity jobs that sit between a cheap auto-trace and a full illustration commission. Files are named to your convention and delivered in batches.
