A business card is the smallest piece of print you own and the one most likely to be handled by a stranger. It has to survive a badge printer, a foil die, a letterpress bite and a badly scanned PDF emailed to your printer three hours before the deadline. We design business cards as print-ready vector artwork with the production constraints already accounted for.
Print-ready, not just screen-ready
Most card artwork is exported straight from a layout and breaks somewhere downstream: the fine detail fills in, the spot UV bleeds, the bleed is missing, or the type is set too small for the stock. We build the card to the printer’s specification you give us ╬ô├ç├╢ trim, bleed, safe area, stock colour and finish ╬ô├ç├╢ and supply outlined type plus a live-text version.
Deliverables
- Print-ready PDF with bleed, crop and trim marks
- Vector source artwork in AI, EPS, SVG and CDR
- Front and back artwork as separate closed shapes for die cutting
- Spot colour separations where the finish needs it
- A flattened proof PNG so you can approve without opening a PDF
Finishes we design for
Spot UV, foil, blind deboss, letterpress, edge painting, white ink on coloured stock, and duplexed coloured stock. Each of these changes the artwork: foil needs slightly heavier strokes, deboss cannot hold a hairline, and a white ink panel on a coloured sheet needs an underbase that does not muddy.
If your printer has not specified the stock, ask them first. The card design and the substrate should be decided together, not after the artwork is finished.
For print shops and design studios
We supply artwork the way a production team wants it: named layers, separate front and back plates, spot colour layers kept intact, and no unexpected fonts or linked images. If you are reselling cards to your own clients, we can also work to your house template and naming convention.
Sizes and stock
The common 85 x 55mm European size, 89 x 51mm US size, 55 x 85mm, and square or tall formats. We can also work to a die you already own ╬ô├ç├╢ send the cutter’s template and we will build the artwork inside it.
